With help from Funding from Heritage Lottery Fund, St Peters Church Rawdon has been able to make our local heritage accessible to you in several special ways
With help from other groups in our community we have created a professional quality documentary DVD dramatising the local history of Rawdon and its Community and Church. This DVD tells the story of our community from pre-history through to the present day.
Showings can be arranged for groups in the Church, for schools , historical societies, community groups etc
At the back of a church their button near the door which can be used to start an audio commentary on the of the heritage of the Church and its significance using the Church's speaker system. Visitors often appreciate the beautiful windows or the old inscriptions which speak for themselves but the commentary can help you to fill in the background story and increase your enjoyment.
In order to ensure those praying in church, or remembering loved ones are not disturbed this commentary, the system is not always activated. Please request that it is activated at the church office or vicarage if you anticipate wishing to use the audio guide.
We have produced a more detailed written guide. This meticulously researched glossy brochure can guide you round the main features of the Church and Churchyard and help you understand the Church and it history .
We have produced small brochure available to lead you on a guided tour of the heritage and history of Rawdon. Spend a few hour exploring The Old Naylor Jenning Industrial Site, Micklefield Park, St Peter's Church and Church Yard, The Stone Trough and Canada Drive, the Rawdon Cricket Club , The Emmot Arms
We continue to work hard to keep St Peter's Church in a good state of repair, and to make improvements to keep it relevant and in use by our community while at the same time respecting and retaining its history and heritage.
The funding from the Heritage Lottery fun has helped us to make necessary repairs to the Church and particularly repointing the tower and restoration of the tower roof to ensure this heritage continues to be soundly protected and available to our community
