No Public worship services or other meetings will take place at St Peter's church during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
But St Peter's is however not closing down   We are producing weekly video services in English and BSL  from the Parish of St Peter Rawdon  together with  Leeds Diocesan Deaf Churches.

This is a rather different  format but our first  service has  proved popular not only in our parish & local community but has been viewed by Deaf Christians across our Diocese and indeed across the country.   They are hosted on my new You Tube channel -  Rev Mark Smith  at
(I'll  give it a sensible name once I hit the qualifying number of subscribers)

You can watch the first video for Mothers Day  at

Next week we will have 2 videos
1)    A short service containing a Reflection the Painting "The raising of Lazarus" by Sebastiano del Piombo on the lectionary readings for Sunday  (voice commentary with in vision sign language interpreter in the onscreen box as we zoom in on parts of the painting)   to bring out the spiritual significance of the weeks Gospel reading.    (the Gospel reading is also  being signed to the camera by a deaf man from Halifax) which will be edited in alongside a reading of the scripture in St Peter's Church

2) A second video explaining in English and BSL the meaning of spiritual communion  - followed by footage of me celebrating communion in Church in English and BSL  - then guided prayer and meditation to assist in making a spiritual communion.

You can can find us on Facebook at

We will also be posting videos and streams, prayers and Teaching  on Rev Mark Smith's channel on YourTube. It may be worth  visiting and subscribing to the channel so you are ready to  watch live streams.

We continue to offer pastoral care. To enable  ministry to continue to be offered to others we can not  do home visits to those self isolating with Coronavirus Symptom (as that would mean we could no longer visit others)  However we are happy to speak on the phone  Rev  Rark Smith  0113 391 0389   Carol Dearden    0113 250 0770
