Rawdon St Peter’s Parish Church Questionnaire

(scroll down to go straight to questionaire)

St Peter’s Church in Rawdon has been caring for the people of Rawdon for over 300 years and our ambition is to continue in this service in the years to come. Historically, church attendances have exceeded 150 at our key Christian calendar events (i.e. Advent, Christmas and Easter). This encourages us that ‘faith’ continues to have strong presence within our local community.

As a Church we continue to work toward bringing our church into the 21st century for example, over the last few years we have fitted screens and new audio equipment into the main body of St Peter’s, we have plans to upgrade St Peter’s Room to enable wider community use. The Covid pandemic has decreed that our regular routine of 8am and 10am services have been disrupted. As the pandemic slowly but surely releases its grip on our lives, the Diocese have posed a number of pertinent questions for church councils to consider

  • What have we have we lost that we need to regain?
  • What have we lost that needs to stay lost?
  • What have we gained that we need to keep and build on?
  • What have we gained that we need to lose in the future?

As you will see from the questions overleaf, they effectively challenge us to consider what we as a church family have learnt from the pandemic and its direct impact on the Church once life returns to something akin to ‘normal’. Do we want to return to what many would call ‘normal services resumed’ or do we see it as an opportunity to consider changes that enable our church to have greater relevance in our community? As with many churches, with an aging congregation, there are concerns that unless some changes are made to attract more worshippers from the wider community, our church may not exist in a few years.

Please complete this  simple questionnaire that will enable our Parish Church Council to set out its vision for the next part of our church’s journey and help us to formulate an action plan that will ensure our future services are relevant to the needs of our Parish Church both in the immediate and long-term future.

The deadline for the return of questionnaires is Sunday 18th July 2021.
